Happy birthday???

I didn't remember that today is my birthday until I saw several posts on my Facebook wall.
I guess I'm getting old.

In other news, today is also Amos' mom's birthday.  Happy birthday, Barb!

In other other news, Amos and I are going on an adventure!  Should be fun!  He's keeping it a secret (mostly), so we'll see what happens.

Only one more day in July!  That's just crazy...

India's hot.
India's humid.
India's awesome.
Spirit of Adventure!  I love travel, minus the plane ride.  Soooooooo long.  I did not appreciate the fifteen hour flight, but I did survive.  Barely.
Looking forward to attending English classes tomorrow at some point to see how it's done in another culture.  Should be good.

Well, I leave in just FOUR days!  Amos got my big suitcase down for me last night, so I'm ready to start packing.  My roommate Jen was surprised that I would start packing already.  She packs the night before she goes anywhere. I tend to pack more like her now, but I wasn't always that way.

When I was younger, I loved summer camp.  I would pack so far in advance that I would have to take my clothes back out of the suitcase as I needed them!  When I was in college, I would get frustrated and upset if my dad didn't pack my car trunk the way I thought should be packed. (I'm sorry, Dad!)  

However, I have loosened up on my packing perfectionism.  When I went to Israel the second time, I kept poor Katharyn awake with most of my packing the night before (I think it was around 11:00 at night!).  Busyness - going to class, going to work, hanging out with people, making food, sleeping, etc. - has forced me to pack closer to my departure date.  Also, since I have had my own room for only three to four months out of the year for the last six years,  I don't think it would be right to take up my half of the room plus part of my roommate's just so that I can pack early.  However, I do think that relaxing my perfectionism has taken a bigger role than busyness which in turn has taken a bigger role than roommate crowding in my decision to pack only a little bit earlier than my estimated leave time.

ANYway, all that to say that after I look for some shirts for India, I am going to come back and start packing my bags...'cuz I'm leavin'...on a jet plane... ;)

In other news, yesterday was good for several reasons:

1. India was five days away!

2. I was finished with my lessons and had turned them in to the substitute teacher on Thursday!

3. Amos and I have been dating for eleven months!!! :D

4. Though I was exhausted and sad yesterday for no reason, Amos was very comforting.  He is so kind and patient.

5. Luke, Lexi, and Gio were adopted one year ago yesterday!!!  I love them all so much!  Mom and Dad took all the little kids out to dinner to celebrate. :)

Well...

I have eleven lessons left to write.  I sure hope my substitute teacher can understand what I'm trying to teach and more importantly, can get it across to the students!  Oh well, that is not in my power...I will keep plugging away. I doubt I will complete all of the lessons today, but we'll see.
In other news, I have complete four things on my list of things to do before I go to India! Yea! :)

Well, it's almost that time!  I'm leaving for India in NINE days. It still hasn't sunk in.  I was talking to my mom yesterday, and I told her, "I think I'm going to wake up on the 14th and go 'I'M LEAVING THE COUNTRY!!'"  We'll see if that actually happens. Hopefully my suitcase will have gotten the memo and will be ready to go. ;)
I believe I have a hundred things to do before next Wednesday...but I don't think I even know what all of those hundred things are!

However, here are some of the things on my To Do List, since I know you are soooooooo interested ;) :
Work
-teach two classes (writing and science)
-tutor my favorite student and possibly his little brother
-plan eighteen lessons to cover the rest of the summer classes (math and writing) :P
-come up with homework/projects for the rest of the summer classes
Packing
-get my large suitcase out of my small closet
-find a place to put my suitcase until I leave
-make sure my shampoo, conditioner, etc. isn't going to leak everywhere
-pack my external hard drive
-pack my little bear last minute
Church
-attend last India meeting
-attend church
-serve at church picnic
-deliver last-minute funds to church
-go to another meeting
Money
-withdraw spending money
-pay utilities
-pay car insurance
-pay loans
-buy batteries for my camera
-make a Walmart run
Miscellaneous
-complete an application I started a month ago
-ask someone to water my plants while I'm gone
-clean my room
-eat all of my food so it doesn't go bad
-play Frisbee
-go swimming
-hang out with Amos
-renew my driver's license and get a new picture
-go the grocery store
-call several people
-find a few books to take with me
-clear my camera
-talk with Amos a lot
-set up India blog
