Isn't that going a bit far???
I was in Trader Joe's yesterday, trying to find tri-tip for Easter dinner tomorrow. Standing next to me was a lady with something in her mouth. I thought it was probably a thin cigar or at least a cigarette because it was long and brown. I leaned over a little farther, and what was hanging out of her mouth??? A stick of cinnamon!
Now I know people like cinnamon, but isn't that a little much?

Fair???
Life's not fair...That's what my mom always says. And that's what I think when I think about going to Israel...
It's not fair. Why do some kids have a lot of money and get to travel the world whenever they want?
It's not fair. God knows how much I wanted (want) to be the IBEX volunteer, so why did He give the opportunity to my friend?
It's not fair. God knows how much I love Israel and traveling, so why am I here in the States?
It's not fair.
Or is it?
Or is it fair that I am about to graduate from college?
Or is it fair that I have been able to go Israel not once but twice?
Or is it fair that I have a major and the training (eventually) that can be used around the world?
Or is it fair that I have the mental and physical capacities to tackle both everyday and unusual circumstances? (Let's not talk about social capacities ;) )
Or is it fair that I have been redeemed from the pit of hell and the snare of the devil?
Or is it fair that I have the vast majority of my immediate and extended family still living?
Is it fair?
Or isn't it fair.

Isaiah
Therefore the Lord said:
“ Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the LORD,
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”
Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it,
“ He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“ He has no understanding”?

Israel, again
Why do I miss Israel so much? I know most of my friends aren't there...I know that it is just a piece of rocky ground...
I think it is because it is so foreign and yet familiar. I know that I don't know the whole city of Jerusalem. I know it might not be the best idea to travel the country by myself. I know that it could be lonely living in a whole new country where I know fewer than 20 people.
But I love it there. I love the Middle East, including Egypt and Jordan. I love to walk around Jerusalem and know where I am going.
I love being familiar with a foreign place. I guess those are some reasons why I love Israel and miss it like none other...
